The ups and downs of life!

Wahoo -It's Friday!

Friday, 30 October 2009 14:31 by Nikki

I am SO excited that it is already Friday! Tonight after work we (my husband and I) are going up to visit my family in Tennessee, which is always a lot of fun! We will head there tonight and come back tomorrow evening.

Today has been a GREAT day at work... First - We all got big bags of candy from the boss...Second - We got free lunch...Third - We got HUGE yummy cupcakes!...and Fourth - We kind of get to relax today and not do a whole lot of anything! WAHOO!

Funny thing - this morning I was totally swamped with work and now I have absolutely nothing to do.. well nothing BIG to do like I had this morning!

I still have a cold, which is driving me insane. I haven't slept well in several nights now - due to this stupid cold. I am thankful that it is not the flu though!!!

Wow - I didn't realize how tired I was and then it just HIT me like a ton of bricks! Luckily, I only have a couple hours left!

Well, I guess I better get back to work and hopefully it will go by pretty quick!

Hope you all have a Happy Halloween!

Almost Friday?!?!?!

Thursday, 29 October 2009 08:57 by Nikki

I am not complaining by no means about it being almost Friday. I am beyond ready for the weekend! My husband and I have some fun plans for this upcoming weekend.

This weekend my mom, step-dad, grandma, grandpa, my husband, and I are going to my aunt and uncles house that is only about 2.5 hours away! It has been a little while since I have seen them and I am very excited about this weekend!

Work seems like it is going to go by pretty fast today. My boss is taking a few of us out to brunch this morning, which will help the day go by a little faster. I am busy at work, but not overwhelmingly busy!

After work tonight, I plan on going home, making dinner, and relaxing! It seems like every night this week we have had something going on and I am looking forward to tonight where I can just relax…but I am sure that something will come up and we will end up being busy tonight like every other night!

Well I guess I better get back to work!

Have a great day!

Bible Study - The Light of Life

Wednesday, 28 October 2009 18:04 by Nikki

The Light of Life

Key Verse: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life," John 8:12

Has the world ever seemed as dark as it is today? With all of the economical, political, and personal problems that people face today, not many people would say that the world has ever been as dark as it is today! We are faced with economical problems of global proportions, terrorist threats which could explode anywhere, moral disintegration in our younger generation, and a refusal to turn to God for answers.

There are too many Christians out there that are scared to stand up for what they believe knowing that they will be ridiculed. From personal experience, I know that it is hard to stand up for what you believe in, but trust me, one day you might change someone else's mind about God. One of the best ways to lead people to Christ is live a Christ-like life. Be strong in your faith and you would be amazed at how many people you could turn towards God by living like Christ did.

Even in Jesus' day there were dark things. Jesus spoke plainly, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12). He had the answer to all their problems if they would only follow Him. His answer to them was, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).

How often do we hear Sunday School teachers and pastors encourage us to take time each day to pray and to study the Bible? Believing in Jesus, praying daily, and studying His Word is what gives us the "light of life", which Christ offers to all those who walk with Him. We cheat ourselves and others out of many blessings when we do not live Christ-like. Don't rob yourself of great blessings, live your life to the fullest loving Christ every step of the way!

Living It: Christ has the answer to every problem the world faces. Follow Him.

Can This Day Go By Any Slower?

Tuesday, 27 October 2009 15:18 by Nikki

I feel like today has gone by SO slow. It may have something to do with the weather. It is really gloomy outside, which seems to make the day drag on and on. I still have 1.5 hours until I get off work, but it seems like I have been here FOREVER!

My husband and I have nothing planned for tonight - or atleast not that I can remember. I started getting a cold last night and my husband woke up with one - nothing like a house full of sickies! There is not much worse than being sick, if you ask me.

Just to repeat my last post - I will try and post a Bible Study here tonight when I get home. It will take me a little bit of time to prepare and type it out, but hopefully everyone will get a blessing out of it. Also, after I post it, please feel free to add your thoughts and opinions to it, so that we can learn from eachother.

Well, not too much to update about work today - besides that it is going by incredibly SLOW! Luckily, it is almost over, but I have a feeling that I will be staring at the clock for the rest of the day!

I guess I better get back to work and try to find something to keep me busy until it is time for me to go home.

Have a great day!

What A Lovely Weekend!

Monday, 26 October 2009 09:25 by Nikki

It was so good to be able to stay home this past weekend. It was very relaxing and exaclty what I needed!

On Saturday, we slept in (which was amazing) then slowly got around and headed to my mom's house. On the way there we stopped and got the stuff to change my oil. So when we got to my mom's house, we started some laundry and my husband changed the oil in my car. After that, we all (my mom, step-dad, grandma, grandpa, me and my husband) sat around and ate some yummy potato soup while we watched Alabama BARELY beat Tennessee.

Then, On Sunday, we slept in again. Then we got ready for church and afterwards we went to a lady at church's house for lunch - which was a lot of fun. After that, we went to my mom's house and washed my car inside and out! - It looks so good! (It was well overdue with all of the traveling - those bugs were stuck on there pretty darn good!)

Work is going quite well so far this morning. Enough to keep me busy, but not enough to bury me!

I guess I better get back to work, so that I can have a little bit of free time to take lunch!

Have A Great Day!

Almost The Weekend!

Thursday, 22 October 2009 13:10 by Nikki

My step-sister's mom and my dad are having a tough time with the loss of my step-sister. They were doing quite well for awhile - but that was because they were still in shock. I guess reality hit home yesterday and they had an especially tough time getting through the day. I just ask that you continue to pray for them. Thank you for all your prayers and support during this troubling time. Here is a link to my step-sisters site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessicaeasley . I encourage you to go there and read her story - it is one that I know will definitely touch your life.

------------------------------------------------

Yay - it is almost the weekend - just one more day! I think I can make it. With what all has been going on I have had a lot of stuff on my mind and I cannot wait to be able to just RELAX all weekend long!

It does not feel like Thursday - more like Monday or Tuesday...I have no complaints though. It is so nice outside today and I just want to be able to go home tonight, cook dinner, and SIT down! - But of course my step-dad has a game and even if he didn't I know it wouldn't be like that anyways - there is always something to do!

I think we all decided to stay here this weekend instead of travel to Tennessee for the weekend (to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins). All of us are just too worn out and need to be able to stay home for ONE weekend. It has been nearly a month since I have been home on the weekend!

Well work is going pretty good today. Not too much to do, but enough to keep me busy. I better get back to it!

Have a great day!

Falling Back Into My Routine!

Wednesday, 21 October 2009 09:12 by Nikki

Last night was my step-dad's first game of his tournament and it is a double elimination - well they lost last night, so that means that if the lose tomorrow night, then they are done for the season. It was a nice day yesterday for a ball game that's for sure.

Tonight I get to teach Awana's again, which is always a blast.

This weekend my mom, step-dad, my husband and I might go to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins this weekend, which is only a little over 2 hours away - so not too long. I think it would be a lot of fun!

Well work is getting a little busy and I have to run a few errands so I better get off.

Have a great day!

To Expand On This Weekend...

Tuesday, 20 October 2009 09:48 by Nikki

This past weekend, well Friday, was my little step-sister's funeral. She was 10 years 11 months and 29 days old. She picked out EVERYTHING for her funeral, from music, to what she wanted people to wear, and even her own casket. She was pretty much the bravest and strongest kid I have ever known. She could and would see the good in every situation.

My step-sister suffered from cancer for 5 years (half her life) and never once did she ever complain. She was a happy young girl and most of the time you wouldn't even be able to guess she had cancer (except for the bald head!).

On Thursday was her visitation and boy did she look beautiful! She had picked out a pink tie-dye shirt. She always looked so good in pink!

Friday was the hard day - it was her funeral. The songs that she chose would bring anyone to tears, whether you knew her or not. After her funeral was over, she got to take her "Last Ride". By Last Ride I mean on a motorcycle. She loved motorcycles and was always around them! She was taken in a herse trailer behind a motorcycle along with atleast 50 other bikes, as well as cars! I know she was looking down from Heaven smiling from ear to ear!

Once all was over, the family went back to the church for dinner and got to socialize and share memories. It was a sad time, but we all knew where she was and that she will ALWAYS be with us, no matter what. She is in Heaven and I know she is having a BLAST up there. The best thing...is that we get to see her again - and I believe that will be soon.

Eventhough the family and friends know where she is, they still need your prayers to bring them comfort in these troubling times. Just the though of her being in Heaven, running on two legs (she had one amputating due to cancer) and not feeling pain, nor will she ever again. I think that the most comfort the family and friends get, is knowing that she is cancer free and she will NEVER be in pain again. I know her last few breaths were gasping ones, and that is a hard image to get out of your head, but I know she will never go through that again. She will never feel pain, sorrow, sadness, etc... She is a wonderful young lady and I can't wait to see her again!

Once again, the family and friends of my step-sister need your prayers. They need comfort as well as peace. I know I pray for them daily and I can tell it helps!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight is my step-dad's game - it is the first of their tournament. I am not sure what time it is, but I guess I better figure that out.

Well work is kind of slowing down and under control today, so I am thankful for that!

My dog, Duke, hurt his other back leg this past weekend, but is now doing better. I'm telling you, Duke is nothing but an accident waiting to happen. He finally gets feeling better from one injury and injures himself somewhere else. Needless to say, he is doing much better!

I guess I better get back to work so that I can be all caught up and not feel so behind anymore.

Have a great day!

Long Weekend...

Monday, 19 October 2009 17:36 by Nikki

If you don't already know, my husband and I headed to Arkansas this past Thursday and got home late on Saturday. We went to Arkansas for my step-sister's funeral. It was sad and happy at the same time. (I will write way more when I have some time - maybe tonight)

Today at work has been hectic and I am getting ready to leave here and go home and rest - and hopefully update you with some more details from this past weekend.

Yesterday we went to church and then just chilled around the house trying to relax a little before having to come to work today.

Well, it is well past time to leave, so I am going to head out and go home and relax some more - I am still way behind on sleep/rest!

Have a great evening!
