Bible Study: Love

Wednesday, 10 February 2010 09:51 by Nikki

Today's Bible study is going to be on Love and we will be reading out of 1 Corinthians 13.

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

* Charity = Love

* One things these verses say, is that no matter what goes on in your life, Love will never fail you. When you Love God with all your heart, then no matter what comes along in your life, you will be able to overcome.

* Another thing these verses say, is that even if we have great power, wealth, knowledge, etc... we are NOTHING without Love.

* Love never fails - what a great thought!

Please let me know your thoughts on what these verses are syaing and what they mean to you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally love these verses, because they are so true and I can really apply them to my life. Also, these verses were read at my wedding, so I cherish them deeply.

The Coming of Christ in Glory!

Saturday, 9 January 2010 16:01 by Nikki

Key Verse: Matthew 24:30

"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory,"

When all hope seems lost and the world seems doomed, the Lord returns and restores law and order. When our Lord returns, it won't be in secret, but with the fanfare due the King of kings and Lord of lords. God will bring order out of chaos and His Word will rule.

I believe that it is very foolish for anyone to set a date or time that the Lord will return, because it clearly tells us in the Bible that no man knows the day nor hour. The only one that knows is God Himself. Due to all of the prophesies being fulfilled, I think His return will be soon.

Just a thought to end with: The Lord's return is the world's greatest hope.

I think you could replace "greatest" with "only". The Lord's return is the world's only hope.

God Bless!

Bible Study - The Light of Life

Wednesday, 28 October 2009 18:04 by Nikki

The Light of Life

Key Verse: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life," John 8:12

Has the world ever seemed as dark as it is today? With all of the economical, political, and personal problems that people face today, not many people would say that the world has ever been as dark as it is today! We are faced with economical problems of global proportions, terrorist threats which could explode anywhere, moral disintegration in our younger generation, and a refusal to turn to God for answers.

There are too many Christians out there that are scared to stand up for what they believe knowing that they will be ridiculed. From personal experience, I know that it is hard to stand up for what you believe in, but trust me, one day you might change someone else's mind about God. One of the best ways to lead people to Christ is live a Christ-like life. Be strong in your faith and you would be amazed at how many people you could turn towards God by living like Christ did.

Even in Jesus' day there were dark things. Jesus spoke plainly, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12). He had the answer to all their problems if they would only follow Him. His answer to them was, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).

How often do we hear Sunday School teachers and pastors encourage us to take time each day to pray and to study the Bible? Believing in Jesus, praying daily, and studying His Word is what gives us the "light of life", which Christ offers to all those who walk with Him. We cheat ourselves and others out of many blessings when we do not live Christ-like. Don't rob yourself of great blessings, live your life to the fullest loving Christ every step of the way!

Living It: Christ has the answer to every problem the world faces. Follow Him.
